Exactly the image I came up with after overlaying IDE driver. I used Putnik's image writer to burn it though, so I'll try DD.terriblefire wrote: 05 Aug 2020 21:13 Here is my image... DD it onto the disk

Re: TF536 on the ST
@terriblefire ive had no luck with that image either by using DD or etcher to burn it to CF card. No discs are visible under EmuTOS and Tos2.06 now bombs.
I'm using an straight short cable and have tried a couple of different CF cards, all no luck or their images get trashed.
I'm using an SMT H4 and one of exxos's decoders. The H4 is very reliable with everything just not this latest firmware, so just wondering what you're doing differently.

If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Well...
The firmware is being incredibly sneaky to swap the data on the bus during the bus transfers. So maybe the timings are a bit off.

Re: TF536 on the ST
sounds like I best burn some more CF images to test ready for the next firmware tweak. I'll get that done and should ne ready for another go after lunch tomorrow.terriblefire wrote: 05 Aug 2020 22:26 Well...

Re: TF536 on the ST
TF536 cannot format a CF card and run mint, the ASCI port is not functioning on any of the ST's that I own(7 total), I think that the former firmware 6_1_2020 is a better fit for me. I can format and partition CF cards up to 16 gig. I have tried everything to get the latest firmware to cooperate with HD driver versions 8 to 11 to no avail. I'm at the point of wishing that I had purchased an H4 when they were available. But the truth is original hardware is why have always been an enthusiast. I really hope these issues can be worked out because it really is a sweet piece of hardware

Re: TF536 on the ST
Don't worry, I'm sure TF will sort this soon. It's still effectively a development item, especially on the ST - I'm pretty sure that everyone has been saying that's the case ever since Stephen was persuaded to make a few more batches of boards.
There's no doubt that the cards offer a phenomenal boost for the money (just look at the other alternatives) so it just needs us to give him a bit more time (and no pressure!) to work on it as/when he wants to.

I'm definitely not criticising Stephen, I appreciate his quick response to issues. He has a big job to make a 1 size fits all booster. I'm frustrated at old hardware. I just going to put it to the side for a while and work on other things. I got a Stacy to get working for example.JezC wrote: 05 Aug 2020 23:08 Don't worry, I'm sure TF will sort this soon. Yes, I know exactly what you mean - he's already given us so much improvement compared to the stock ST (as has @exxos and many others on this forum!), we're just aware of the potential advances still to be realised.Umberto1st wrote: 05 Aug 2020 23:22 I'm definitely not criticising Stephen, I appreciate his quick response to issues. I'm lucky enough to have a couple of H4's: the first one is running but still needs a couple of bits adding - ACSI bodge board, cartridge port, MIDI sockets, ACSI socket, 1.44 Meg FDD and then the IDE board & from there the TF536...
The second is awaiting my discoveries with the first to decide on the final build spec (and the finances to get there  ).
I have more than a dozen other STF/M boards in need of some attention so I'm trying to slowly work out what needs doing on each of those while saving up for the goodies.
Would love a Stacy - along with a TT & MSTE but they're so rarely available.
Hope you manage to resurrect your Stacy soon - please write up your progress as you go! I'm sure many other forum members will be interested in it as well as myself.

Re: TF536 on the ST
Dont ever expect it to work with MiNT or probably the ACSI either. There are lots of things on the Amiga that are simply unsupported such as KICK 1.3 for example. The TF536 design goal is to let you run old games very fast and be plug and play. If you have a TF536 you dont need ACSI. Maybe i'll look at it one day but is years off my radar.
This IDE firmware is a dirty hack because i was bored and wanted to try swapping things on the bus. Worked for me but since it doesnt really for anyone else i'm gonna bin it.
