It's probably the last good retro-brighting day of the year, so...

The upper case of the Brother HR-5 printer is getting a little love.

P.S. On the railway front, the ~£600 worth of track arrived yesterday. That's the penultimate large expense for the permanent way. The last will be the point motors for ~ £800, but that can wait.

It's come out quite nicely. The B*Blonde cream was rather brown tinted too.

The DivMMC Future turned up today and I've had a little play this evening. Looks like it's going to be a very useful device for loading games on a real Speccy.

The only thing that seems mildly annoying is that on the 128K it resets into 48K mode. Having said that it will load 128K games without difficulty.

To effectively disable the device you just have to pop the SD card out, which is simple and effective.

I don't have a 128 so haven't tried it, but if you press the red button you should get the menu

I got the ST536 boosted ST down from the loft to test and probably to fit the CPU/ROM switch into the case body before Cyber Legends.

Good news: It works fine.
Bad news: HDDriver 10.10 doesn't like the patched TOS 2.06. Sometimes 11 bombs, sometimes a hang, sometimes works. Also PP's loaders see the TOS version as 0.00 and throw massive wobblies as they're totally confused. I'm going to have to switch back to the ROM with 1.04/EmuTOS.

I also need to clean the top case and possibly fit a nicer "turbo" LED.

Mine arrived today, but no chance to test yet as late home from the office.

EDIT: just gave it a quick wizz, seems good, though the SD card does seem to have a bit of a limited selection, but that's easily fixed :)

Grrr... the UltraSATAN SD card corrupted, or rather HDDriver managed to corrupt the C: drive boot sector on it and Diamond Edge refused to help, even though it could, with persuasion, see the FAT data. In the end I had to reformat the partition.

After this, for some reason, Frontbench wouldn't run on the TF, only on the base machine. All very strange.

I'm getting ready for Cyber Legends, honest...

However, the model railway is still on the go.

The majority of the track is down, I'm mostly working on the motive power depot and the branch line now.

The four coach/DMU/EMU sidings are in.

Just to give an idea, I've got my ancient Hornby platforms as a plasceholder for the station area.

Once I've finished the track I'll stop the railway and go full on with the retro-computing.
