Forget the flashing, the iPhone doesn't like taking a video from the plasma screen:

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I've three commercial tapes, Return of the Jedi, Ghostbusters and a murder mystery called "Deathtrap" with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve. Oh, and my graduation video, which I'm going to preserve.
Oddly there was a RAF graduation video of me on beta, but I think it's gone now with the house being cleared.

Yeah, I never thought to look for it when we were going through the house, but what can you do...

I woke up early so I digitised the graduate video.

The composite video -> HDMI converter added some "sound before vision" issues but it's OK.

Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell from my end, due to the YT compression artefacts, but from what I can see through that seems to have fairly crisp detail and good colour definition. I think. :lol:

The detail is far better than VHS but the colour still bleeds quite a bit.

Here's a capture via a cheap SCART->HDMI converter:

Thanks @stephen_usher. This one is much clearer. I can see it's a pretty good picture.

It seems the tapes are less prone to visual distortion compared to VHS.

I guess I will keep an eye out for one of these at a car boot then. :D Although, I can't recall actually come across one yet.

I would be interested from a home recording on Amiga video gear perspective, especially if the tape pause is better than the VHS jittery one.

The tape pause is still jittery, see the beginning of that capture.
