Oddly there was a RAF graduation video of me on beta, but I think it's gone now with the house being cleared.stephen_usher wrote: 01 Jul 2023 19:46I've three commercial tapes, Return of the Jedi, Ghostbusters and a murder mystery called "Deathtrap" with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve. Oh, and my graduation video, which I'm going to preserve.rubber_jonnie wrote: 01 Jul 2023 19:31 My Dad preferred Betamax over VHS, though eventually he had to cave as he couldn't get the tapes anymore. He never used pre-recorded tapes though, just recorded from TV.

Yeah, I never thought to look for it when we were going through the house, but what can you do...

Re: General Stuff(tm)
I woke up early so I digitised the graduate video.
The composite video -> HDMI converter added some "sound before vision" issues but it's OK.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell from my end, due to the YT compression artefacts, but from what I can see through that seems to have fairly crisp detail and good colour definition. I think. :lol:stephen_usher wrote: 01 Jul 2023 20:30 Forget the flashing, the iPhone doesn't like taking a video from the plasma screen: ...

Re: General Stuff(tm)
The detail is far better than VHS but the colour still bleeds quite a bit.

Here's a capture via a cheap SCART->HDMI converter:

Re: General Stuff(tm)
Thanks @stephen_usher. This one is much clearer. I can see it's a pretty good picture.
It seems the tapes are less prone to visual distortion compared to VHS.
I guess I will keep an eye out for one of these at a car boot then. :D Although, I can't recall actually come across one yet.
I would be interested from a home recording on Amiga video gear perspective, especially if the tape pause is better than the VHS jittery one.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
The tape pause is still jittery, see the beginning of that capture.
