@PhilC I have to say your suggestion of that Pseudo Saturn Kai cart was spot on, so for that I thank you :)
I found an excellent source of CD images, and have burned about 20 games thus far. Some don't like the RAM cart being set to 8M, but simply moving the switch over to one of the 2 other settings usually solves that.
At this point I don't think I'll be looking for an ODE right away (I will eventually) as I have a good selection of games and can burn any I really want.
I have to say that the Saturn really feels like the beating heart of an arcade machine, more so than the Dreamcast, something about the way the graphics look, and I'd heartily recommend one to anybody who loved games of the Space Harrier period and beyond.

Glad you’re happy with it @rubber_jonnie and I agree it really does feel like playing a Sega Arcade game using the Saturn. And as I’ve said before, it’s the only machine I wouldn’t sell out of my collection.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Yeah, I didn't have one back in the day and kinda wish I had, it really does give you a different feel to other consoles of that era. I doubt I'd sell it now I've experienced it.PhilC wrote: 02 Jan 2023 10:51 Glad you’re happy with it @rubber_jonnie and I agree it really does feel like playing a Sega Arcade game using the Saturn. @PhilC Just wondering if you have a Saturn '3d' controller? I've been playing Knights into Dreams and I really like it, which is supposedly better with the analogue controller, wondered if you had any thoughts on it?
BTW you still have your Christmas avatar up :)

Nights into Dreams is much better with the analog controller. Whether it is THAT much better considering how much they cost these days (£30-60). When I got mine you could get NOS from USA at cost as they were sold separately to the game.

@PhilC @alexh
Well, the 3d controller arrived today and boy can you see the evolution from that to the Dreamcast controller.
I have to say it makes Nights into Dreams so much more playable and I just did a quick test run with Daytona: Championship Circuit Edition and it works really well with that too, to the extent that I actually felt in control of the car compared to when I was playing it with the joypad.
I'd certainly recommend one on the basis of just those two games alone. Daytona also uses the triggers for accelerator and brake which really does make it a lot easier than with the joypad too.
I have to say it's a very nice controller.
