Ive had it a while because i gave up on it way back in 2020 i think, i have time now and brought th project back out the attic and again i cannot get the damn thing to program
Ive tried it USB to USB, ive tried the USB to serial adaptor used in the guided on here. I even bought a 2nd gotek clone recently just incase it was faulty, but i cant even get this one programmed either. Im not a novice either, i have plenty experience modding consoles, and even jtagging old cable tv boxes from back in the day so im sure i am not just being daft. i even tried it on a win 7 PC a WINXP pc and also my newer win10/11 laptops
nothing works
checked the comm ports installed the ch340 driver and the dfu driver. but againnothing works

the original gotek is ARM CPU and the newer clone is a Artery CPU which i had to source the programming software for also

Has anyone else experienced issues like this. I hate being beat on a project lol but this is frustrating the hell out of me

any advice welcome

Calgacus
Have you seen https://github.com/keirf/flashfloppy/wi ... rogramming ?

This should provide all the information you need in case you want to get FlashFloppy installed on the Goteks.

If FlashFloppy is already installed, you can update it using the USB Stick: https://github.com/keirf/flashfloppy/wi ... are-Update

Hi Guys

Thanks for your replies

I replaced the TTl programmer and got the ST32 arm based gotek programmed first time.

I am still struggling with the Srtery based one. I cant find the artery programming software anywhere it doesnt
show up on Artery website anymore
Also can the Artery on be programmed with same TTL programmer or is tis one USB-USB only

Thanks

You can find all the tools for Artery here. Pick the "ISP Programmer". I programmed a few this summer but I can't remember if I just used a usb or serial for it. But I think you need to install the USB driver in the package and then install and run the programmer. Follow the guide on FF site (The guide is NOT up to date since the program is a newer version).

If you have a Linux system (for example a Raspberry Pi) it is pretty easy to user dfu-util to put FlashFloppy on an Artery-based Gotek: https://github.com/keirf/flashfloppy/di ... nt-3901428

I recentl;y picked up a load of Atari items, couple of STe's, load of disks, external SF314 floppy (this needs work), and in it was a gotek drive the original owner never got round to doing much with, as it needed header pins fitted, and reflashing.

I installed the latest version of flashfloppy stable v3.44 at the time of writing. This was installed the gotek is an older 3 digit job SFRC922D model. this went ok, and everything lights up as it should, buttons work, jumpered as SF0. Now i also had another old Roctec external floppy case, the drive in it is sadly toast, but the controller and cable is fine. so i mounted the gotek into this case. the ST can open the USB and show the contents. i dumped a couple of .ST games just to test it, i have the FF.CFG i havent changed anything on it from how i got it. I cannot get the files to load on startup like with a traditional floppy, nor can i get them to load if i boot to desktop and try to run the .prg file.. just kinda has a brainfart and back to desktop.

is there anything im obviously doing wrong? (likely.. as im so new to gotek's) i can see the files, but not the original .st, but like its been mounted and the individual files are present. is there anything i need to take into account as im using it as a "B" drive. my internal floppy drive works fine. so i dont want to muck around with that other than keep it clean. so i need to keep the gotek in some kind of external housing. i basically flashed it, and replaced the dead FDD with the gotek in the external housing. and figured it would be good to go.

Most ST stuff is meant to either boot or be run from the A: drive and not B:.

There is a mod you can do to change this: Drive A: & B: swap however it is a bit fiddly especially if the PSG is soldered in.

Alternatively just fit the Gotek in as drive A: and put the internal floppy in the external case.
