yes, my fault, it's rather an amplifier with volume/panorama control and equalizer
Pacman wrote: 30 May 2025 20:41 But it would be very helpful if someone could clear up the purpose of input 2 (-12dB) of the LMC-1992?
unfortunately STE has no YM -12dB. Atari planned to implement it, but eventually changed their mind. Why? We don't know.

Huh? Now you've got me confused :o
I thought the whole idea with the STe LMC mixer audio fix was because input 2 was supposed to be -12dB lower than input 1, but due to a hardware mistake in the design it instead resulted in complete silence from the YM-2149.

there is no magic here :)
As we checked on Atari-Forum.com, the standard STE has no "YM -12dB mixing" mode.
If you want, you can have this mode by modifying your STE with this "STE LMC MIXER AUDIO FIX".

I think I understand:
this "hardware bug" prevents the "-12dB" input from working as intended, so programmers can't use this feature in their software (if they wanted to make the (YM-2149 generated) background music lower than the DMA (sampled) sound effects), right?

But if enough Atari users do this modification, programmers can add this feature to their games.
This is what the "Randomazer -support for LMC mixer audio fix" page (and video) appears to explain.
Did I get it right?
