TF 1230 overheating?

No, that's just a capacitor. It should work fine without. It could also be that your board shipped with a reprinted/overclocked CPU which can't keep up at 50 Mhz.

Well now things got REALLY bad. When I removed the card from the A1200, I noticed that something was loose on the backside of the board. As I turned it over, a little component fell from the card! Here are two photos:

I asked at Amigastore.eu if I could send the card over for repair and testing.

I don't know what that component is or what it does, so please excuse if I'm asking silly questions: Could this have been the cause of my problems in the first place, or is it just another problem I now have on top of the other one?

Which country are you in? Im sure one of the TF builders will fix it for time and materials if you ask nice. Unless you are in spain of course then i'd recommend just going to Amigastore.eu

I'm in Vienna, Austria. That would be very nice. Of course I'd pay for time and materials! I assume there are no TF builders here in Austria, but perhaps in one of the neighboring countries?

@8 Bit Dreams is in Germany and @chucky is in Sweden. Either of them are capable. See if either would help out.

A missing capacitor is unlikely to cause issues. But a capacitor making intermittent contact because it was about to fall off might. Or, was something rubbing on that capacitor - did you have a short to something metallic? I'd be curious to try the card in the machine again.

Thank you for all your help so far. I am waiting for a reply from the seller at the moment since I bought the TF card new. I have a little more information: From what I've researched on the internet, my board doesn't seem to have a timing fix (E123C and E125C are populated):

I have an original Commodore A600 power supply with 3A. Some say that this isn't sufficient for some accelerator cards. Is that true?

I tried it without the capacitor and it works as before - including the hot CPLD and the random freezes of course...

Yep the E123C and E125C components need removing, this was recommended by commodore itself

The A600 PSU will be ok so long as it is still working within it`s operational specs , remember these PSUs are now 30 years old and are failing so it must be kept in mind

I Still have an hunch that it is the Cpld that has failed and hopefully the seller will take it back and sort it, if not please put their name here so we can all see who it is

but either @8 Bit Dreams or @chucky will sort it out I am sure
