@terriblefire it was great watching this, very interesting. Shame I was on holiday so could not come along. Glad MiST, Tim H and your Archie Core was mentioned. Still great work happening on MiST. Got mine upgraded to 64mb now.
Yes maybe you diverted a bit from your KISS philosophy for the TF4060, but then again it is about learning, and efforts like the Pi programming header will be useful.
If your love of 68000 continues and a TFX?0 appears then it might be reasonable simple. Card expansion is similar size to CD32. Edge connector is just simple PCB plated edge.
Could get away with just 1x 8mb RAM chip if available (although multiples of 2mb 5V chips seem popular at the moment, look up GalsPanic on GitHub). There would be 2mb on board the X68K, so total 10mb and I think 12mb is max anyway.
Some games benefit from 16Mhz 68000, but then many have issues (timing?) past 10Mhz.
Maybe it is only productivity software that would benefit from +16Mhz. Your software clock switching could be very useful, maybe have a 030 '10Mhz 68000' equivalent speed, assuming this cures those issues. Otherwise having an overclocked 68000 or 68010 might be a better option.
There is some great work happening to update the HardDrive image which has games etc installed, so adding a Set CPU Speed to those games that need it would be simple.
There are RAM + MIDI Interfaces, so maybe RAM + CPU + MIDI might be doable. X68K have SCSI/SASI ports on the back and BlueSCSI V1 works great (and cheap) so a HD interface is not needed.
X68000 does not have the same scene as Amiga, so demoscene is very small and most games are 2D, although there are quite a few Microprose 3D flight ports. So chasing CPU horsepower might be not be so important for this platform.
Anyway, your not allowed to think about the above until the TF4060 is released
