Eneloop Batteries failing ?

Another AA just finished testing (one on the right) and gave a measly 113mA :roll: Those things should be 2,000mA or more.

2 AAA Eneloop on the right. Quote min 750mA on the battery.. Kinda fails a bit in that respect.

Duracell and Eneloop AA on the right. Both about the same mAH.
Second from the left a Eneloop AAA pushing 968mAH. Odd!

2 Durcall on the left. Basically 5Amps!! Amazing from a AA battery. Though odd the others I tested were below 2 amps :shrug:

2 Energizer on the right. 730mA quoted, so They both slightly more than spec.

So the Eneloop are all over the place spec wise.

Duracell quote 2,500mA. So 2 give 5,000mA and others under deliver at 1,800mA.

These batteries are a few years old so some variation be expected but I'm not really sure by how much. But even so, they don't really get used much individually. Is not like they even have a hard life.

So it is difficult to know what to conclude at this point. Maybe they all are counterfeit batteries. I guess more will be learnt with the Energizer ones over time.

I've ordered a four pack of those EBL batteries to try.

Though currently I have noticed the two left channels on the charger are simply not working properly :(

There is no way the batteries are 5A when the other 2 are sub 2Amps!

I'm not totally sure that even charge properly on those two channels. It takes like three times longer to charge test them but they do not seem charged afterwards anyway. So I've ordered the same charger. So hopefully the new charger will behave better.

Annoyingly I'm going to have to retest all my batteries again because now I don't know if the three which seemed faulty were actually faulty now :roll:

If you let the batteries get to low or you mix different batteries(type/age/batch) it is possible for one or more of the batteries to get drained and then negatively charged by the other batteries.
This will damage the batteries and they will not work correctly anymore, it looks like the problems you are having.

Also there are certain chargers (like dect phone charger stations) that always charge the batteries, these will probably die after about a year.

Yes absolutely.

This will damage the batteries and they will not work correctly anymore, it looks like the problems you are having.

I don't believe so because they are all charged up individually and used individually. I only use them in my torch which takes a single AA battery. They are charged up individually in my charger as well. So I don't believe that would be a factor.

The AAA batteries are used in the phone and there are two batteries. That is most likely a "always charging" station. Though mostly it is only on charge overnight anyway. Ironically more AA batteries are failing in my torch were used individually.

EBL 2800 2x tested so far. One 2.44A and the other 2.35A. So not quite delivering quoted capacity.
