I think some sound stuff may use 12v. But it's still not much power wise.Badwolf wrote: 09 Nov 2022 17:11
It's pretty much just floppy (12V) which is bugger all and RS232 (-12) which is the square root of the former.

Re: External PSU for Falcon
I was a backer for the A1500+ Checkmate Kickstarter and because the case was made to house an A500/A1200/RPi/etc, there was concern among some of the backers (me included) about sourcing a suitable PSU which would run with such small loads.jwd wrote: 09 Nov 2022 16:08 Thanks for all the comments, didn't know about SFX PSU tbh, having a dive into them but seem most require minimum drivers as per their big brothers.
@mrbombermillzy had a look at that (SFX-200W), looks good but can't find minimum load specs for it, found a checkmate pdf that actually talks about it (see quote below) so strange the SFX PSU they sell wouldn't have the specs listed fully
Steven Jones actually did a video recommending a certain make/model (I can't find that specific video; has made quite a few about various things relating to the Checkmate case, so it would be a matter of trawling through several very long YT vids).
However, I'm pretty sure he has found this one does the job (also recommending that its not for high end PC use), or I'm pretty positive that he would not be selling it to work with this case.
If you are still in any doubt (after the above), maybe contact Steve to double check.

Re: External PSU for Falcon
thanks all, I reached out to the sellers of :
https://www.ami64.com/product-page/retr ... -eu-au-usa
who referred me to Keelog the actual manufacturer, their response when asked about minimum load spec was, and I quote :
That's about as much 'technical' as they were gonna get.
So took the plunge and will see how my Falcon likes it . . . . or not. :|

I got nice high level diagram that at least to show 3 separate drivers for each voltageWe did not conduct special tests in this area.
