It cost me the 25 GBP the full board costs, but I guess I'll find a use for it somewhere else as a decoder only... I actually do have an Atmel programmer for CPLDs for some of my projects, but I'll just throw it in some test box or something later, order some booster later for it. It's too bad my TF536 won't fit in there! Not without removing the floppy port at least
If you've got any suggestions for a different booster or anything besides the TF536 I'd be open to it!
Thanks for your time.

Re: 520ST with 16MHz Booster low benchmark
When the decoder and booster were separate store items, the booster was probably more like £45 at the time. Later batches I decided to include the booster logic for free and not bother with the 2 seperate boards anymore. Which is why you see £25 for the full version in the store now. It was the original price for the ROM only board which have not been sold for some time now.
As for boosters. There are only the 2 kinds which I sell which you know about already. Either the low cost 16mhz booster. Or ST536 50mhz with altram. You build yourself or I believe @PhilC is building up a few boards fully.
I doubt you will fit in any case without designing a custom relocator board. There are that many revisions of Atari motherboards that it would be a large undertaking. Happy of course if someone wants to design multiple relocators and sell them. But I just don't have time or the health to do such work anymore. I'm more invested in the H5 plaform these days.

All good! I'll look into building a custom relocation board for this machine, or just order a full one with booster, the 520ST is my secondary box anyways. I'll play around with other upgrades :)
Thanks for your time, and the H5 is very interesting and will most likely replace my 1040STF

If it’s the short ST you’re talking about, the original TF536 would fit if sat on top of one of the TOS decoder boards. It’s a tight fit but it would go. Not tried a rev5 yet but I suspect you’d need to sit it on top of a few extra sockets to raise it above the sockets.
I’ll try and see if it fits later.

If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Is this a short-ST? You have to specify 'short' ie; no floppy otherwise we don't know what machine you're talking about. If it is a short ST there is no 'CE' line on the motherboard then the following page shows you how to install a 'CE' line:Astal wrote: 11 Sep 2022 03:07 All good! @Astal One thing I'd suggest for future posts is the inclusion of pictures.
It will help to elicit quicker answers without the need for multiple replies that can lead to confusion.

Re: 520ST with 16MHz Booster low benchmark
Sorry about the lack of pictures, it's a short ST, I might try and stack the TF536 on top of the decoder board. Thanks everyone.
I'll need to stack a few sockets to throw a TF536 in, the decoder board moves the socket a few millimeters too far and the board can't get there. I'll be figuring out a good way to get this stuff going well.

Ok so just to be clear you've given up on the title of this thread now and are moving on to something entirely different without / before solving this issue?Astal wrote: 11 Sep 2022 19:57 Sorry about the lack of pictures, it's a short ST, I might try and stack the TF536 on top of the decoder board. It can't be solved as he doesn't have a booster. The low score was him comparing a STE to ST benchmark.Steve wrote: 12 Sep 2022 07:31 Ok so just to be clear you've given up on the title of this thread now and are moving on to something entirely different without / before solving this issue?

Re: 520ST with 16MHz Booster low benchmark
It isn't a booster board, I had it in a box for about a year and forgot what it was exactly, I knew it looks like a booster and forgot I ordered the decoder only variant.
