Yes, sorry.. I just got that.. I now understand what the * on the motherboard means.. I changed my question Exxos.. sorry.exxos wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 8:46 pmIt is explained in the jumpers page, it is also explained on the motherboard, and it is even shown in the image I posted above just.Bikerbob wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 8:44 pm OK I read your thread on the 920 mods Exxos, but I only see where you are using your HD mod board. Where do I attached the HD detect wire (white wire in your image) to the H5 c1 board?

1.44mb floppy on H5 C1

Re: 1.44mb floppy on H5 C1
If you mod the drive as Frank suggests, and not use JP18.. I would assume it would work.. But of course like I said at the start I have never modified or used one of those drives.
Re: 1.44mb floppy on H5 C1
Thanks Frank, I did find a 920 drive.. so I decided to mod that.. that way I can use my 1.44s in the TT and the MegaSTE
SO the 920 has been modded. The first one shows the solder joint to the lower SW3 I think it is marked.
The 2nd shows to pin 2 and then the DSEL to 0
Really sorry all, if I am asking stuff that has been asked. I like not to make mistakes, and most likely ask too much.

Re: 1.44mb floppy on H5 C1
It looks like your red wire is in the wrong place..
The drive select jumpers should not be needed on the H5 anymore. So does not matter if you change them or not.

Re: 1.44mb floppy on H5 C1
So I am going to assume that this works on a hardware level, TOS does not seem to see an HD drive in there. AKA I cannot use FORMAT in 2.06 to format the drive, it sees only SD not HD. IS that correct?
Kobold seems to read the 1.44 np, and shows the correct disk size.. also just selecting the ICON opens the drive np.

Re: 1.44mb floppy on H5 C1
TOS206 is not aware of 1.44 floppies.. I think on the MSTE there was jumpers to enable it on desktop, but that hardware doesn't exist on the ST range.Bikerbob wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 10:20 pm So I am going to assume that this works on a hardware level, TOS does not seem to see an HD drive in there. Re: 1.44mb floppy on H5 C1
@Bikerbob you can run a program to set the _FDC cookie that will enable the HD option in format etc.exxos wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 11:00 pmTOS206 is not aware of 1.44 floppies.. I think there might be a better link but found some links to some PRGs in this thread. https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 418#p31148
Re: 1.44mb floppy on H5 C1
@Icky did we look into it , in that if we emulated the MSTE address, it would enable the cookie install ?
Re: 1.44mb floppy on H5 C1
Yes. TOS 206 only looks for those jumpers / address if the machine is an STE, ST BOOK or MEGA STE. Thus you would have to patch TOS. So it's easier to use these PRGs instead.exxos wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 1:39 am @Icky did we look into it , in that if we emulated the MSTE address, it would enable the cookie install ?
