For the ppc I don't think a dremel is a good idea - I think chipquick smd removal would be my go to.

I second that. Chipquik and an electric vacuum pickup tool is by far the safest and easiest method I've found so far for removing large QFP. I find it's worth practicing on some old DVD players first. You can usually find them for free. Once you can get the video processor IC off and back on and the DVD player still works, then you're good to go.
