I've also had my A2000 rev6.2 with TF536 (no IDE buffers) lock up when installing applications/programs, and it happened recently with a clean WB3.1 install, but it was when I was installing MagicWB. I have a 2GB Sandisk CF card, and the firmware is the firmware that was released to fix Turrican audio issues (around that time).

I thought nothing of it, in fact I pointed blame to my power supply. But maybe it's not....

But essentially there seems to be an issue when copying memory to ide. If I had to guess, I would bet it probably occurs within specific buffer sizes.

I can’t seem to be able to replicate this at all on my A500; I will have to devise some way to trigger it with more certainty...
I just tested with your image and it froze about halfway through the unzip process, this time with the disk activity light on.

I'm wondering if there is a problem with a filename? length or formatting of it?

I don't think so, it's completely random as to which file it freezes on and it has frozen with lots of Amiga native files.

The file copy or compression process doesn't seem to fail on a particular file each time. Sometimes it completes all files successfully and when it does lock up it's not on the same file every time.

It would be interesting to see if other 536s are affected / and / or other non 536 A500/A2000 setups. To recreate: compress or copy a large number of files and directories e.g. WHDLoad A,X,Y,Z to the Temp directory in DH0: (If you have about 500MB free in the target dir).

If the issue is present it should show up within a couple of attempts.

I can do this task with no issue on the stock A2000 with 68K and SCSI drive on an A2091 (it takes a LONG time though). All the installs I have tested on so far have been using MUFastROM so I'm testing without it at the moment (no lockup yet but much slower).

Would you mind sharing this firmware with me? I'd like to try that too.

Sure, I'll send it across when built and running, I don't want to try this just yet until I've exhausted a few more avenues with the IDE setup first.
