Does that mean my GEMDOS partitions are breaking some demos?troed wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2020 9:05 pm Some newer demos require not only being run from HD, but also a specific lowest speed as well. As long as your driver isn't doing TOS/DOS partition compatibility byte swapping in software, any ACSI emulating driver and harddrive will probably work.
What doesn't work is the Unicorn USB host adapter (I have one) since it is much slower.

Well no, I lost half the explanation there. For ACSI hardware, this isn't relevant. However, for IDE interfaces, if you're partitioning in a TOS/DOS compatible format (i.e, you can put the card in a PC/Mac and it reads the content correctly) then either your _hardware_ must be doing translation (fast) or your _software_ driver is (slow! swapping all bytes all the time).Cosmic Puppet wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2020 9:10 pm Does that mean my GEMDOS partitions are breaking some demos?
Sorry for the scare.
