I've had a spare 10 mins this afternoon, so I've connected a gotekSo the disk formats fine up to side 1 track 79, then goes to 0 to the ST so I can get a digital view of what's going wrong at the end of formatting.
I So the disk formats fine to track 79 side 1 and then goes to track 0, then tries to reach track 169, then 0, then 169 again, so that's where the problem lies by the sounds of things.
Has anyone spotted this error before? I'm thinking stuck bit on DMA or wd1772 but so far all looks fine.

That is a new for me. What are you using for tos roms ? The problem could be from format routine to the end of the cables

I've replaced sockets, chips etc on this Mega and everything meters and scopes out ok but still no floppy.
Considering every time I look at the pcb it seems to have yet another corroded joint (it really does, I'm not exaggerating) Its quite likely this board will be put into retirement and ill try and locate another one.
I've got an idea that the problem may be signal noise when reading and writing to the floppy. Its also starting to suffer with really fragile resistors, whilst checking for other faults id found some that fell apart as soon as they were touched.
RIP Mega ST 2 motherboard. Don't worry, you had your donor card with you and your sacrifice will help to save others.
