I think us extreme-nerds are both harsh when we try to be constructive, and sensitive about intended constructive criticism. I know I can do this where I post about my developments, depending on my mood (I have issues of my own). As an newbie/outsider of this environment I think it was means as constructive criticism, though he could have been worded it more diplomatically.

I have had a civil email exchange with Matze.

Seems he’s having a not nice time for other reasons so I have accepted that as an explanation for his tone.

I don’t care about preserving things. Mostly I destroy retro machines. If that offends you then so be it.

I hate people that tell me I cant cut up a case to retrofit a device.
It's my shit, I can set it on fire if I want...

Jens seems to have conceded that Stephen was right after all, if doing a 3.3V 060 only board. He was apparently under the impression that this would be 040 compatible which was never the intention.

Anyway, I received and soldered up my 1260 yesterday. Holy moly, the amount of caps! I haven't had time to test it yet, this will happen between tonight and tomorrow, kids permitting.

On a more serious note, have you managed to destroy a 68060 during development of your accelerators?

Doesn't count for me, it's a mechanical damage that can be fixed...
