STBook Floppy Disk Drive - (re)born

Post by Robson »

I'm not too active on forums but that doesn't mean there is no work done towards my hobby in the background.
Here is my latest baby, the STBook floppy drive, NSTF-144 (how I named it), that Atari has never delivered.

Specs, quoted from my website:
"So this here is a DD/HD Floppy Disk Drive and...wait for it......ACSI adapter. Yes, the drive has a port for the DMA, so you won't lose the option to use an external HDD with the STBook. Also saves the STBook to ACSI adapter because it is the usual 19 pin DMA port that you find traditionally on STs."

BTW the HW specification of the pseudo acsi port of the STBook is completely wrong so I'll publish that on my site too.

I only call it proto because there are few points to finish and tweak but the unit works as expected, every time. Videos available through the link above.

In addition, I shared the corrected pinout of the FDD/ACSI connector on the STBook on my site but also attached.

The "STBook_HW_Spec_9-10-1992.pdf" available online is completely wrong.
