That actually sounds weirdly good.

Got this CRT but it died 2 days later.
Anyone know anyone in the West Yorkshire area that might do a recap if I get my money back with no replacement?

Picture had self zoomed a little by itself.
This onscreen text wasn't cut off at first.
Standby would come on by itself after a short while.
Now it fails to come out of standby at startup.
Now only does this:

Sorry to hear about your dying CRT.Cosmic Puppet wrote: 15 Aug 2021 19:42 Anyone know anyone in the West Yorkshire area that might do a recap if I get my money back with no replacement?
I actually tried to drum up some contacts for CRT repair in a previous thread:
https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... crt#p38608
But was met with the silence of the grave... :o
Its a funny thing, but many folks who are into retro computing are not fully commited to the experience!
Love the JR Hartley thing BTW!

Aw man I noticed that thread is over a year old. There's someone here who is into electronics so I'm going to ask.mrbombermillzy wrote: 15 Aug 2021 22:15Sorry to hear about your dying CRT.Cosmic Puppet wrote: 15 Aug 2021 19:42 Anyone know anyone in the West Yorkshire area that might do a recap if I get my money back with no replacement?

I only bought this because it said it was reconditioned.
I should get my money back, but it's what to do if I'm left with a broken 35Kg CRT
Thanks. Was just a bit of fun 'cause we were laughing about the old ad while up in the Highlands. Got the YM2149 Synth in there too.

Re: The Cosmic Puppet's Universe.
Hey, on a slight tangent (but still relevant) I came across the site of one Frank Sharp a while ago.
He has a big blog site on CRT TV repairs for literally hundreds of models.
He seems to be quite a character.
Just reading through, his comments on how modern LCD screens are POS, along with his personal philosophies is quite an interesting read:
https://obsoletetellyemuseum.blogspot.c ... e-map.html
Maybe he can give some repair advice, or have a look if he is close enough? (Couldnt figure out where he is based though as is a bit like the Best Electronics website :stars: ).
