It must be a long time since I did this because last time it worked in Firefox, but you can't do it any more.
For example:
https://temlib.org/AtariForumWiki/index ... _folderxxx
I tried this in the Linux terminal, but it doesn't work.
$ ftp ftp://atari.st/tosroms/patches/foldrxxx.zip
Connected to atari.st.
220 ProFTPD Server (pair Networks, Inc FTP server) [66.39.138.73]
331 Password required for anonymous
530 Login incorrect.
ftp: Login failed
ftp: Can't connect or login to host `atari.st:ftp'
221 Goodbye.
Does anybody know how to do it?
How do you download FTP files?

Re: How do you download FTP files?
Firefox removed FTP access due to it being "insecure" (even though it was 99.9999999% used anonymously to download publicly accessible data, but "security" zealots don't care).
As for that particular FTP command, it looks like that server doesn't have anonymous access set up.

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Re: How do you download FTP files?
I think the issue is that both of those links don't seem to allow anonymous access, which is odd since most places do allow it, but I can't download anything from either link you gave.

Why using the old-wiki and not the new one?
If the FTP server still works I'll update the wiki page to just host the files instead.

Re: How do you download FTP files?
OK, that has clarified things a lot thanks, looking at general guides on how to do FTP since the browsers stopped doing it was not useful.
I even tried the Epiphany browser thinking it would be old style but it seems to be some kind of google browser now.
I originally had the problem on the LGD website, I then clicked on the wiki link here, later clicked on the link on a search and that is how I landed on the other wiki version.
The file I was trying to download I have somewhere on another hard disk, but the experience just made me wonder how do deal with the issue in future.
