Brits are being urged to stay at home if they develop certain Covid symptoms as health officials warn of rising infections and hospital admissions across the UK.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued fresh advice ahead of winter after figures revealed a significant increase in Covid activity during September, with a variant nicknamed “American Covid” among those circulating.
Positive test rates climbed to around 7% during September, while hospital admission rates increased by approximately 50% over the same period.
The latest figures for England also show that Covid positivity reached 9.1% in the week ending October 4, up from 7.9% the previous week.
