Is anything on the PSU higher than the large capacitor ? The large cap is 30mm high which is exactly the same height as the original PSU. The transformers wires look like may be sticking up slightly wrong, but that shouldn't give you the height difference you seem to have. All wires on top of the transformer are supposed to be routed downwards around the outside of the transformer rather than above it. But even so, you seem to have lost more height than that somehow..

2025 Exxos PSU in 520STE – clearance / case won’t close properly
Re: 2025 Exxos PSU in 520STE – clearance / case won’t close properly
I'm wondering if there is a difference with the mounting bracket. I don't suppose you have a second ST to verify that it's identical?
I've got the same PSU in a Mega ST, STE and an H5 and they always fit. The only time I had trouble was when the motherboard wasn't lined up with the positioning pins on the base or when the PSU mounting bracket was incorrectly fitted.
Could you please post photos of the PSU mounting bracket, so we can see if it's been bent or is somehow different in some way.

If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Since you've adjusted the PSU position can you please post a picture of the IEC socket and power switch so we can check the alignment as the should be central in their openings.
Also can you please post images of the PSU from every side so we can have a look at the assembly, thanks.

Re: 2025 Exxos PSU in 520STE – clearance / case won’t close properly
Seeing the thread title... what an interesting coincidence. Just yesterday I noticed the same thing for the Exxos Falcon PSU. I had a Falcon which I was unable to close due to a different issue, that was fixed and imagine my surprise when I found out that the PSU itself is another obstacle in the way.
Thanks to help from a talented friend, we could lower the bracket's legs so it fits again but I was rather disappointed to see this.
(esp. because I'm quite fond of this PSU, it helped me where the others had failed!)
(it's the blue edition, 2F)

@mascis - looking at the back of your STE it does look like the switch and mains socket are a little high. Are you sure the lugs of the PSU frame have dropped in place correctly. I have found sometimes the tolerances are tight and the frame needs pushing hard against the back of the case to allow the lugs to drop in place that’s on an Exxos or original PSU frame I have seen the need to provide that leverage sometimes.
Re: 2025 Exxos PSU in 520STE – clearance / case won’t close properly
Yes, as @Icky says, I've experienced this before too. I've had it where the motherboard hasn't quite 'snapped in' properly to the plastic base and has been a few mm too high. Like Icky says, you gotta put the metal assembly in at a certain angle then drop it down. I think normally you can tell by looking at the midi ports, and/or sometimes the metal chassis isn't sitting flush for some of the screws.

Re: 2025 Exxos PSU in 520STE – clearance / case won’t close properly
I know this may sound like a lot of faff, but can I suggest you take the mainboard out othe the case and shield, pop it on a flat surface and measure from the flat surface to the top of the PSU when sitting correctly on the board (A bit like @exxos did but not from the cap, from the surface it's sitting on) and take a note of the height.
Do the same with the old PSU and see what the difference is. You will need to be sure the lugs are in their slots in the mainboard for both measurements.
There is clearly some kind of mechanical issue between the case/PCB and PSU and the only way to get a proper read on it is to measure without the case IMHO.

Re: 2025 Exxos PSU in 520STE – clearance / case won’t close properly
When fitting the standard psu back in, I've had it sit wrong on the pcb and after a bit of jiggling it drops down when a thump.
Was the crack next to the power socket all ready there or was it caused when the psu was fitted ? That might suggest it wasn't fully down on the pcb.
