DFB1X any use for a expansion port ?

This would have the advantage of being fully 32 bit albeit with the same restriction of being bus-slave only.

That's actually not a bad idea really, just need another connector and another couple of layers of PCB to fit it all then

I suppose as the data buses on the small connector, a duplicate connector there for the other 16 bits would probably be the most convenient way of doing it.. Rooting it probably not so convenient...

Ah, no I was thinking more about a bolt-on board that wouldn't need mods to the existing design.

Some kind of madcap thing like this with magical routeing of 68 lines through the gaps.

I've done it here on the FPU as it has all the lines and fewer pins, but I know DFB1X is SMT for that.

Ah, no I was thinking more about a bolt-on board that wouldn't need mods to the existing design.

Good luck with that one could probably be done if you push to enough Layers , but that's its own drama.. Probably be cheaper to respin the whole board and start again at that point

For the Mega Videl I’m focusing on the CT60 to have access to the full speed 32 bit wide 68060 bus. Putting it on a copy of the Falcon bus seems overly constrained. So if you do add one it’d be good if it’s a 32-bit 68030 clock speed one.

Anyway no promises on my end, not even sure if I’ll get the CT60 version working.

Interesting stuff ! The databus is driven from the CPU. I guess I could pipe the CPU clock to the connector but its going to be clock switching. The master osc could be done but thats going to be a few ns in front of the CPU clock. The firmware would likely need updating to make sure the CPU is running 50mhz by whatever is fitted. But that's not a huge issue anyway.

Have kept half an eye on your work but not being fully au fait with the 060 I guessed it wouldn't be backwards portable.

Yep working on that now.

I'm going to reorder the layout of that bottom socket so things just flow better..

Those SMT sockets are a bit too fragile to mess with I want to get some metal braces to clamp around those sockets but getting them the right size is another matter... I was trying to look around to see if there was any more meaty SMT style sockets but they all seem to be basically the same
