TRACOs are really good. Never had issues with them.rubber_jonnie wrote: 23 Apr 2026 14:23 So, as described in the GitHub repo, with this display board the 7805 runs quite hot, even with the 7805 bolted down, so I am going to replace it with a Traco I think and we'll see how that gets on.

They're very good, I run them in my 48k Spectrums and my Science of Cambridge MK14 also has one too, very cool running indeed.HigashiJun wrote: 24 Apr 2026 00:06TRACOs are really good. I ordered some last night as annoyingly I'd run out. That's happened a lot lately.
I put the thermal camera on the 7805 yesterday after about 10 minutes and it was already hitting 60C+ and while that's well within the spec for a 7805, I'm sure a Traco will do a lot better.

Looks like they may be out for delivery this afternoon, so fingers crossed the upgrade will be completed soon :)
Next I need a source of 86 pin expansion sockets if I'm going to consider upgrading it :)

You're not wrong, even Ali Express is proving difficult.HigashiJun wrote: 24 Apr 2026 11:09That's the toughest part...rubber_jonnie wrote: 24 Apr 2026 09:41 Next I need a source of 86 pin expansion sockets if I'm going to consider upgrading it :)

@HigashiJun Thanks for thse, but I have 4 expansion slots and that seems rather expensive...
In other news I had a package arrive today that was supposed to have the 4014 and 4040 in it for the CDP1861 remake. It contained 2 4014's. Not best pleased.

Sorry to hear that.
And yes, EOL parts tend to become increasingly expensive...
