Just got back home from VCF midwest. The event was enormous, a massive conference hall filled with vintage computing awesomeness!
Had a pretty good set with a 520ST, Phoenix H5, STe rocking an STE536, Mega ST, Mega STe and a Falcon (PS3000 and SC1224 monitors). Yes, I did have some big LCDs too....
The STE536 was an all-star. I had it running pretty much from 8am - 10pm for two days or so. I had no unexpected issues. It was even surprisingly compatible with the Sidecart....which I hadn't tried at home because it "isn't expected to work on accelerated machines"....but it was flawless. I also ran more than a few demo's too.
I had a blast opening up the hood of the STe and showing folks how well it fit in the case. It really is a work of art. Hope it drums up some interest along with the H5!
Had the Falcon often running Basilisk and Warcraft II in demo mode...that would draw some interesting attention. I also found a new home for my DFB1 with one of the other Falcon owners there.
Got to meet some awesome members of the US Atari community and was set up right next to the Fujinet team...

I was one of those Atari people. :)
Really good to finally meet the man behind the "Power of Vintage".
It was an epically awesome show!

Coolness! Looking forward to it (and a longer one would have been fine with me). :)coonsgm wrote: 10 Sep 2024 12:32 Sweet! thank you for sharing the photos. A VCF video is coming...it will be short and simple.

Did Adrian Black pop over and visit your display?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Briefly I believe. I talked with him a bit the 2nd day after I'd packed up.
I spent a good amount of time with Sean from Action Retro and the Macintosh Librarian actually at my display. The Warcraft II on Atari got quite a few double takes.

I just noticed in one of your photos you caught one of the few times the STE536 had an issue....it was my own doing because I'd gotten used to using ctrl-alt-del with the 520ST that regularly was having issues, I did it on the STE536 powered STE which caused the crash :(
