I best try and remember where I put the STE then.
Will test the ST536 tomorrow and hopefully STE536.

Ooo. That's good. I was worried it was the end of the road on that investigation and I'd been dreaming it all :Pexxos wrote: 03 Nov 2025 22:19 I've been looking more into @Badwolf's STE & STE536 some more tonight, trying to figure out the original problem some more.
Basically there seems to be a odd "bug" in my bus grant logic which only seems to show up when the blitter is enabled. I've also remastered the bus grant logic to be latching conditions to cope with random spikes on the signals and adjusted the timing slightly on bus grant stuff. So far it all seems to be working fine. Hopefully solve some potential weird problems for some people.

Re: ST536 STE EDITION
Its on pass 268 now :) Need to do more tests yet.. But it does tally with that odd timing thing I was on about before. Where DMA seems to get trashed depending on the clock sync. Not going down that rabbit hole :)Badwolf wrote: 04 Nov 2025 10:30 Ooo. That's good. I was worried it was the end of the road on that investigation and I'd been dreaming it all :P
It seems like a similar problem @PhilC is having on his ST536.. But same weirdness as your machine, and yet it would work fine all day on my machines..
But @PhilC has issues even without the blitter, but has reported hard drive corruption.. so I am hoping last night's code changes will solve his problems as well :hide:

Re: ST536 STE EDITION
I'm not convinced JLC have put the ROM socket on the right way.. I mean it was clear enough !
Same with the ST536.. thats even worse...
Just have to hope the actual boards are done properly
AND to make matters worse it looks like they have a buffer in backwards !!!
There are problems all over the place it seems. I emailed JLC to ask about it all... I hope its just the preview which is wrong... I know its not accurate.. but when they have the same chip in different orientations... that's clearly not right !
If they have messed up that badly, there's no point them shipping the boards to me and might as well bin them! At least I save $300 on shipping and tax!

Yeah, they're both wrong. And the pins are on the top side again on the STE one!

Re: ST536 STE EDITION
I recently ordered from them and the placement of most of the components was incorrect!!!
I had to manually rotate most components so that they were correctly aligned.
