I downloaded from below (I got this from Commodore is not the only Fruit)
So I need to use the bootable ones then ?

https://tho-otto.de/snapshots/freemint/bootable/

No clue which one, there's millions of the buggers! Assume the top one ?!

EDIT:

freemint-latest-02060-tt_falcon_clones.zip did the same. But it's a STE with a 030 and doesn't seem to be a zip for that anyway ?! :shrug:
Pick the one I circled here 2060 (020-060) This is the one working for me now.

Its some bug in TOS206 (***), beyond my ability to figure out unfortunately and nobody wants to fix TOS206 other than me anyway. So you have to power down for 20 seconds or use EMUTOS.

(***) Sometimes a warm reset works, other times it freezes for 30 seconds and then resets. Might be something to do with how TTram is setup in TOS206, not really sure where to start on that one.

I did, still same problem :(

I will see if I can find my original MINT floppy tomorrow and see if that boots up. Though if you say its working fine, there is probably no use in me trying now anyway :)

Yes I know the audio is terrible, but I just threw this together. I'll probably pull it down in a few days.

Cool stuff!

You could try SI.CPX in the NVDI tools somewhere. That allows cache control. You can turn on/off cache in TOS menu somewhere, but I think it might be off by default anyway. I'm not sure if SI.CPX will work on a STE.. but it *should*..

GB6 will let you control both caches, If you load and set and quit IIRC, it won't change them back after you quit back to desktop, but not 100% sure there.

I have been trying to follow the reset issues in TOS206. I think part of the problem is that there are PAK fixes which are not enabled / used in my build. So I will do some tweaks there and see what happens.

Code: Select all

#if (TOSVERSION < 0x300) & !TP_50
        tst.b    (resvector).w          /* bits 24..31 must be zero */
        bne.s    noreset                /* (they aren't, so punt) */
#endif

Reset fixed did not really seem to do anything. But I will leave it in there anyway for now.

Basically what happens is :

A clean boot to desktop. WARM & COLD RESET WORKS, But cold takes 27 seconds to reboot for some reason.

With MAPROM and BLTFIX - Cold takes 27 seconds, warm crashes.

I would guess that the TOS in TTram does not survive a warm reset for some reason @agranlund ?

I guess when @agranlund has time to help me out with the MAPOROM TOS patches, that it might be better to create a "memory hole" at the 63MB mark so TOS thinks there is only 62MB of TTram. Then use the 64MB TTram bank to hold TOS. I'd assume that would be enough..

I also assume the 27 seconds is TOS "recounting" how much TTram it has and trashing it. No idea :(

The 27 seconds will be it clearing out all RAM to zeros.

Just try starting a program in TT-RAM without the FASTLOAD bit set with even 64MB of RAM... You'll wait a while.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
