Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!
People say that Arch Elite is the best but I'm not that impressed. Feels a bit like the Amiga/ST version bit with dubious mouse control.
@rubber_jonnie If you had a Gotek fitted then I could send over a set of ADF files for you.

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!
Given I have Elite for BBC, Electron and Apple, having it for the Archie makes a lot of sense. May even have it for the Speccy too.mrbombermillzy wrote: 22 Jun 2022 20:31I have two 1990Fxp's (one has what I believe to be a shot PSU where a postman decided it wasn't his job to be careful and broke it). :(rubber_jonnie wrote: 22 Jun 2022 16:46 The monitor is an LCD, an NEC 1990Fxp, great monitor and I also have an NEC 1970NX which is equally good.
I always thought that the 1970NX had better/more adjustment options (like a v-size at least!)
EDIT: Games? If I had of got this machine working, the first game to have run would have been David Braben's original masterpiece, Elite! :)
The Archie version is meant to be among the very best.

I do have a Gotek I could use, even if only temporarily to get stuff onto the hard drive, I'd be very interested in any ADFs you might have please.stephen_usher wrote: 22 Jun 2022 21:12 People say that Arch Elite is the best but I'm not that impressed. Re: A5000 - diving in at the deep end!
I know I said I was done, but I've decided to pursue the IDE thing a bit further. I've replaced the 2nd 74HCT245 and can now detect CF cards :)
Previously the drive details were garbled, so for me that is progress.
Formatting fails, but definitely a good sign :)

Nice to know as I'll probably have to go through this with mine.

Still having issues formatting them, even with Wizzo softloaded, but I think that it is highly likely that the IDE interface is now working, I just don't have any drives it likes :)
