PSU connector ?

Post by exxos »

Has anyone ever come across the stf/e connector for the PSU ? They are very similar to normal off the shelf connector, but they are not a good fit. They almost seem like floppy power connectors just with more pins..

Oddly, I was on the verge of asking the very same question, as I have a brand new Meanwell PSU that I want to use for any testing I do, just to be sure I have good power, as stuff like the PAK and IDE interface seem to be a bit susceptible to poor PSUs. I'm going to have a look, I'll measure the pin pitch and see what I can find. Surely there will be some sort of Molex that will work?

There are very similar generic ones which fit if the plastic is cut away on the motherboard. But was more asking about finding the original connectors.

Indeed, I'm talking about the originals too, or at least a modern equivalent.

According to the BOM of some PSU found on dev-docs.org the connector's part number is 171822-6. Entering that into Google yields: https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/products/6801216/. Looks like it's still made today.

Oh wow I never thought of of doing that with the parts being so old. Nice one!
