I know it's probably been mentioned in this thread already but I have to point
out Derkom's message thread which covers a lot of RGB2HDMI stuff.

He led the way with a bunch of concepts and ideas that I used in my STacy.

So, just giving credit where credit is due. :)

Yeah, I've followed your (and @derkom's work and they really are fantastic pieces of work! I admire your persistence.

Oh, sorry - I mean I completely power the entire STacy off/on when I'm impatient and don't
want to wait for the blinking to stop.
Aha! So this sync issue is basically a "hit or miss" type of thing: if you're unlucky you miss the sync and get the flashing, if you're lucky you hit (or get close) to the sync and you get no or little flashing?
In that case it's different from the flashing issue I have with the TV and HDMI input. I still don't know what it is, but I supect it has something to do with "sensing" that HDMI device (cable set top box) properly.
Oh well, I don't know why it happens but at least I know a remedy/workaround.

When I asked, I was told the blinking was normal and just the mod and the system all syncing
up. I assumed that it did the same thing on other users setups because of that answer.
Is it normal for all ST computers (or all vintage computers for that matter) connected to an RGBtoHDMI?
It looks quite frustrating to have to deal with it all the time. At least with the TV issue I can remember to switch one device before the other, but here you can't.

Oh absolutely - the buffered pick up board leaves only the 3 wires marked in the photo that
you have to solder. The STe version looks so much harder!
Too true unfortunately.
I've been looking at a number of ways of attaching the buffer board with pros and cons to each solution. I'll see about posting some drawings of them here.

Thanks. I've read through parts of it before, but with 27 pages there's a lot to go through! Amazing work!!
I particularly like the photos which has by the way given me some new ideas on how to mount the buffer board!

And thank you for sharing the RGBtoHDMI 3D printed case files and info!

Keep in mind, even when I turn it on and there is blinking, it usually goes away in a short amount of time and
requires no power off/on cycle to correct it. I've got TOS v3.06 installed so oftentimes the blinking has stopped
by the time the memory test and the hard drive timer bar goes off. I usually just turn it on and let it go all the
way through that until it gets to the desktop.

It's only occasionally that a complete restart is required to correct it.

Until I posted the question about the blinking, I had not seen it mentioned anywhere else (or maybe I just
missed it? Not sure). What I was told though was that it wasn't anything to worry about. So I don't. :)

Here's a message thread where I thought the problem was something else but various answers
were given and discussed:

Interestingly, here's some Google AI answers to a question about it. :)
