Most of the more colourful games are CPC ports... most have a software CPC emulator underneath. Most of the Spectrum "ports" have a software Spectrum emulator underneath too. Re: General Stuff(tm)
The joystick adapter boards for the Enterprise arrived today...
I made one up and only then noticed that it's a little lop sided, but only enough that it will cause people with OCD to take exception.
The good news is that it works. The bad news is that it's too wide to allow two of them to be used for joystick 1 and joystick 2 at the same time.

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

In other news:
The SAAB's tailgate is fixed and no-longer dangerous. The car's been washed and "put to bed" with a waterproof dust cover.
I finally managed to unbrick my Dad's "old" (9th gen) iPad and restore it, removing the lock to his old account. It'll be nice to be able to use it as it's 5 years younger than my iPad Pro and I don't have the funds to buy a new one at current prices.

I was today years old when I discovered that the "audio out" on the Enterprise is not only for tape saving but it's also full stereo out for the machine. Just plug in speakers and it works.

Also on the function keys you can turn both remotes on and off for some reason.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
I knew that it had stereo out on the RGB port but didn't know about the audio jack. The video port audio is *REALLY* low voltage and really needs a preamp on each channel before feeding into a TV via SCART, as I have to put the telly volume on about 70% before I can hear much at all.rubber_jonnie wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 1:34 pmI had heard it had stereo out.stephen_usher wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 1:15 pm I was today years old when I discovered that the "audio out" on the Enterprise is not only for tape saving but it's also full stereo out for the machine. From the manual:
F4 or SHIFT+F4
No idea why though.
Also is one specific socket stereo or do the channels come one from each socket?

Re: General Stuff(tm)
The "Audio" "Out" socket is a stereo socket, so just plug stereo speakers in.
Oh, those "remote" sockets are the tape control for automatically pausing the tape. No idea why you need two and when loading programs the tape pause isn't very reliable. Probably bugs in the tape loading and saving code.

Yeah, especially doing so via the function keys, seems very strange, will see if I can find it in the manual.stephen_usher wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 4:44 pm Oh, those "remote" sockets are the tape control for automatically pausing the tape.
