H5 + PiSTorm the perfect marriage

Post by dad664npc »

The H5 is the ideal platform for the Atari PiSTorm. It sits inside comfortably and offers the ST unrivaled performance. The latest fixes introduce bus arbitration, so native FDD/Gotek + ACSI bus adapters (only tested BBaN exxos HDC) work.

I'm hoping to get chance to try a PiStorm in one of my H4 or H5 boards very soon... will post details of any progress when I do...

Great work @dad664npc - many thanks for all your hard work on this!

Thanks for all your hard work. Really good news. The JIT work and the various GFX card work too (Videl & SuperVidel!) also amazing. Plus things I didn't even know about such as Bluetooth joypad support and USB keyboard/mouse support.

FYI: The website still says "Bus arbitration in the CPLD doesn't work yet, so the real blitter chip and real DMA devices can't be driven."

Given the timing of the posting on the discord, I don't think that @dad664npc has had time to even load the web page since he got this working, let alone edit it! :-)
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Great work on all of this @dad664npc !

I've still been following on Discord and the progress is astounding.

Previously, I had experimented with the PiSTorm on my current STacy,
the "SuperSTacy" which I now have buttoned up and (should be) done
with any more mods for it, so I'm not planning on taking it back apart
in the foreseeable future.

However...I now have a bare-bones STacy up and running. So I'm going
to put a 68k CPU socket in it and start again with your latest work.

Looking forward to all the experimentation, yelling, shouting, hair-pulling
and general chaos that typically ensues on anything I work on.

Congratulations again on the amazing results from your efforts.
