It's all connected

this is a pretty weird one of sorts.
My girlfriend text me last night on her phone basically on about her favorite film. And today that film coincidentally has shown up on her tablet as a suggested thing..
The thing is, her phone isn't even connected to the internet or even mobile data. It's not like it could even be blamed on cookies or something tracking events.
Remind me years ago when I was on about trying to buy a army tank to drive to work in because of all the people annoying me on the roads. The next day some dubious sounding dude from India or something rang up wanted to know if I wanted to buy anti-terrorist equipment and all sorts of weird stuff. I had actually been googling tank pictures when I got home from work the night before. While I could have been tracked, how would they even have got my number?! They could have been a joke from someone from work but again, nobody had my number, and the call was just literally so weird it did not really sound like something which was set up as a joke.
I was on about tracking technology and such in cars and my girlfriend started waffling on about a murder which was solved because the land rover was tracking the guys movements.
I think it is a little worrying how much we are actually being tracked without even knowing about it these days.
