Black screen after tos upgrade

I just swapped my tos chips from original 28pin 1.06 to 32pin 1.62 and soldered the jumpers but there seems to be an issue. I can only see a black screen when I turn the atari back on. Any ideas on what has caused this?

Black is worrying. White is the normal TOS fault state.
What do you get if you remove the chips altogether?

Yes, go back to your old tos chips just to check everything is still working... from this point onwards you can diagnose.

The thing worked before I attempted the upgrade. I wonder if I broke something when removing the resistors used for jumping. I struggled to get wire into the gap so bridged with solder. Could this be the issue? Or is solder bridging the jumps okay?

Will I need to change the jumper settings back to original to test the old chip?

A solder bridge is messy, but shouldn't make any difference to jumpers, wire or zero ohm links.
I'd be more concerned you'd shorted a power line at this point.
Do you get a white screen with no ROM chips fitted? If not, you problem is likely more serious and you should get the solder wick out.

Could be a jumper issue, but pictures would help.
The 'resistors' are zero ohm jumpers, so can be replaced by wire, bridging with solder isn't ideal, but should work.
Check the jumper settings here:
