Recording Audio from the Atari STFM's sound chip.

I'm wondering if it's possible to have a stereo out from the Atari STFM without using the ROM port? I want to compose with the chip using maxYMiser.

Good point :)keli wrote: 27 Oct 2019 11:05 If you're going to use it in a modern composition, you might as well record each of the three channels onto its own audio track. Then you are free to mix it as you like.
It is possible, I bought one of these new, arguably where stereo mods really get their inspiration from: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/ ... ety-Board/Cosmic Puppet wrote: 27 Oct 2019 01:13 I'm wondering if it's possible to have a stereo out from the Atari STFM without using the ROM port? I think this will be my favourite option as I prefer plugins like the Ultrasatan that don't require any modification. Would it be possible to have this with a stereo output?Atari74user wrote: 27 Oct 2019 16:00It is possible, I bought one of these new, arguably where stereo mods really get their inspiration from: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/ ... ety-Board/Cosmic Puppet wrote: 27 Oct 2019 01:13 I'm wondering if it's possible to have a stereo out from the Atari STFM without using the ROM port? Currently I simply use my monitor cable which has a 3.5mm out. There are various options with this route, Google search: https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C5CH ... CAs&uact=5

Having said that I'm going to ring up Cool Lovelties tomorrow and ask them if they can make one.Atari74user wrote: 27 Oct 2019 16:00

That would definitely be the best sounding. :)keli wrote: 27 Oct 2019 11:05 :Dexxos wrote: 27 Oct 2019 10:23 YM chip has 3 channels in fact. So you have chose a channel and split the track and run it to its own audio amp.

The former would be stereo, the latter mono, but I connect to a Mackie 1604VLZ4 mixer amongst other computers and instruments, and split the sound signal if I need to from the VGA cable using a 3.5mm to 'stereo' unbalanced cable, or not using an unbalanced XLR to save on inputs and channels on my mixer. Stereo from the YM is not a biggie for me, as I can split the mono signal via my mixer and add outboard effects. That said I mainly use my Falcon for that sort of stuff, but still it works pretty well. I actually haven't opened my Tweety Board, I am still intrigued by how well it would sound myself, by all accounts, it's supposed to be a simple but effective mod.Cosmic Puppet wrote: 27 Oct 2019 17:53I think this will be my favourite option as I prefer plugins like the Ultrasatan that don't require any modification.
