I have had a weird day...

So that first boot to desktop was a bit of a fluke. I tried it again with IDE and it didn't load the drivers and the disc didn't come up.

VGA went down. Sometimes it wouldn't boot at all, other times it would, but in the darkest hour it kept resetting, like:

RAVEN
RAVEN
RAVEN

Reworked everything! I even removed the PLCC-86 socket to get a better angle on U106, U103, to no avail. So I pulled the DS1818, which means I have to key reset manually to start it, but everything now works including AUTO file load and it is reliable!

Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm trying to work out what I have done wrong. Did I just get super unlucky and get a bad DS1818? Or have I broken something further upline?
(Sorry about the awful CRT photo with the broken Philips switch. The LCD is in use elsewhere)

@sety I had mine in backwards, which obviously didn't work. Replaced with one the right way round and it worked.

It works so well with manual reset so I think I burned it.

Did you have to reorder or did you just reverse it and it worked?

@sety I used another one as I'd ordered a few but it's worth trying yours swapped round. It'll either work or it won't

I am starting to like you! I won't pull the board oof ugh again tonight, but I will order a new supervisor circuit! I had a very bad day at work last week and this project makes me happy. :)

Here is where I am at. I still don't know how to bring colour into this world and mouse isn't working but keyboard is. I'm not complaining...
This is a full MiNT running on Raven (hard drive pulled from my Falcon) so I am very happy!

I can also confirm that SST39LF802C 2MB rom works because I got super drunk and built one. It is the one running in the photo. :)

@sety did you press delete when the Atari logo is displayed at boot? You can then select which nova driver you want and then say something like 640x400x8 for 256 colours?

Cool idea and should be totally doable!

The ATF1508 has access to the following address pins:
A31,A30,A29,A25,A24,A10,A9,A5

You could pinch these two free ranges:
/rom4 = $A2000000
/rom3 = $A3000000

(And add to the logic to handle these, making sure it takes the 68150 path. Perhaps you can avoid a completely new path with own waitstates and so on by going the normal ISA-IO path but without triggering IOR/IOW and without waiting for IORDY)

That unused J106 header feels like it would be a perfect fit for this purpose too and is conected to ATF1508 pins 73 and 81.

And to finish it all up and make it all Atari-like, two entries in the pmmu table:
$FA0000 -> $A2000000 (64kb, cache:precise)
$FB0000 -> $A3000000 (64kb, cache:precise)

I can add it on the todo list for Raven.A2 to put a dedicated /rom4 /rom3 header somewhere closer to them ISA slots :)

I did but when I select mach32 it doesn't give me any resolutions to choose from =/ It does with et4000 but I don't have one to test
