You mentioned this earlier ?

I removed the GAL chip to test, and that made the floppy/Gotek works perfectly fine. So I will have to check on those connections.
Is that still true ?
EDIT:
Looks like your not using the 16MHz osc ? With the jumper its taken from the shifter 16Mhz.. that is untested as yet....

That is still true, I do not have the GAL chip connected, and I'm not using the 16MHz oscillator (it is not even installed). And yes, the JP22 is in 2-3 position, for 8MHz 1772.
But the 16 MHz is only if I want a floppy in 1.44 mode, right? If I'm using it in 720 mode, the GAL and the 16MHz oscillator are not need. Or am I wrong?

You need 16Mhz input to the GAL even if your only using 8Mhz modes... The internal clock switching logic needs 16Mhz internally...

Oh! I see. Then I will order another 16MHz oscillator; that may take a few days. Will keep you posted. :-)
Thanks again!

You can solder over the jumper near the osc.. that will feed 16Mhz from the shifter.. but AFAIK nobody has tested it yet...

Oh! I do have SJ3 soldered, so that's done. OK, let me install the GAL again and see what happens.

You may have to scope the 16Mhz line to see how it looks on pin 1 of the GAL...

OK, I need to recover my scope, I lend it. :-D
But, I just installed the GAL and turned on the H5, and I can immediately hear the "seek" sound coming from the Gotek. But after booting, if I try to open the drive A in TOS, the activity light on the keyboard is solid for a while, then turns off but no window opens for A. Tried several times, always same behavior.
As soon as I get the oscilloscope, I will measure that pin and report back.

I assume you have the 3 sets of jumpers set correctly also ?

I need to get back to testing the 1.44mb GAL but my initial testing with the SJ3 soldered did not work and only 720k disk images on my Gotek worked. Are your disk images 720k or 1.44mb?
