I removed the GAL chip to test, and that made the floppy/Gotek works perfectly fine. So I will have to check on those connections.

Now, also, I have to track down what happens with the FPU, because GemBench (6.08B31) says it is not present.

There is no FPU on a standard ST. Or the H4/H5. So GemBench is correct.

Thanks @DoG ! Shame on me, I thought the 68901 was the FPU... But that's the MFP. I guess I got confused by the "FP" on it.

So, I'm having an snafu: if I want to install a floppy drive (Gotek in this case), there is no space to install a Dreamblaster X2 underneath. I know @Icky did it, but it seems there are several designs for cases. Take a look:

Just the posts (without the internal screws): Not even removing the USB port and audio jack (not that I would do it, anyways) the drive could fit above. I need to check if hole for the front of the FDD is high enough that I can lift the drive, but that probably will mean there will be some ugly space.

Looks like you have the short posts as normally used on older brick long button drives...

@AndresPlazaR - I think I have one of those older cases somewhere so will take a look.

Just by looking at your pictures I have a possible way this might be made to fit. The X2 board could move down slightly to rest on the MFP socket but that involves allowing the socket on the X2 to sit down to the pcb and not the plastic around the header pins. I’ll do a test later. Then the gotek case I notice the pcb stand offs are quite tall so a small hole could be cut to allow the audio jack and usb to poke into the gotek. I think with those two combined it could fit.

I read all the installation instructions but, of course, I forgot (until the end) to "rotate" the resistors in the board itself. :D I was wondering why I was only listening a "pop" when playing MIDIs.

But after that, it is working perfectly, and the sound from the X2 module is loud. Thanks!

Like @exxos, I installed it in port #4 (of course 5.5V)... But there was a weird behavior: it seems to be detected, but the info (name and capacity of the CF card) was all messed up.

Tried to create partitions, but no luck. For the record, I did not install the resistors suggested for the data lines.

Just in case, I moved Trudie to port #3, and voila! HDDRIVER showed the right name and capacity for the CF card. But, even after installing the driver in C, TOS 1.04 wouldn't boot from the IDE drive (of course, booting from the HDDRIVER disk worked). Just to try, I enabled TOS 2.06 and got:

Four bombs. Any ideas?

You didn’t disconnect the floppy ? TOS 2.06 without floppy connected gives these nasty 4 bombs. It’s not the only reason to get 4 bombs but an easy one to fix..

TOS v1.04 can't auto boot from IDE. You need a patched TOS 1.04 for that.
