This is something I've seen sellers do. Vendors selling multiple items of something put the prices up astronomically when they have sold out (rather than selling out). I can only assume it has some economical benefit for them (saves re-listing?) Check the vendors sales history, he's sold lots of PCI sound and gfx cards all sensible prices around £10 mark so this is almost certainly a technique rather than an expected price.

eBay rule change. A buyer protection fee is now added. So if a vendor lists something for a round number say £50k eBay automatically adds on the extra.
eBay wrote:The Buyer Protection fee is calculated as:

A flat fee of up to £0.75 per item, and
4% of the item price up to £300, and
2% of any portion of the item price from £300 to £4,000
The maximum is (£0.75 + (£300*4%) + (£3700*2%)) = £86.75

All eBay listings made after this change have strange non-round values now. Listings made before the rule change are still round numbers.

@alexh

Of course. How could I forget the recently added 'buyer protection fee'?

I wonder, does the protection cover excessive markups by the seller? :lol:
