So just messing with the Raven and by accident I noticed that when I run doom but then exit it, the screen fill goes back to normal.
Hopefully this will give me some clue as to what's going on. I'm presuming it's something to do with a dram setting on the card.
Will see what changes are made before and afterwards.

There is a 2MB variant on the way over here so maybe the best thing for now is if I artificially limit the driver at 1MB until I can test on hardware.
I didn't actually get it primarily for the additional ram but in hindsight it's good that it has it :)

Interesting!
Yeah the patterns are being re-uploaded to vram after each resolution change (at the 2MB minus 2048 bytes mark in your case)
Weird that they somehow end up in the correct place after that trick.

I was actually going to offer to send you one but I guess you beat me to it.
re doom, its not that its setting the background pixel back correctly, more like making them all 1s....

Incidentally I've tried changing dram configs without any luck with your test program. I'm wondering if this card has ever worked in 2mb mode? I'll know when the Ram for the diamond card arrives.

Well that's just plain annoying. My ES1869F sound card has decided to die.So I've got the Yamaha sound card in it instead for now. I do have some spare chips I picked up from Aliexpress which actually look legit, so will try swapping them out.
If its not fixed by CL then I'll probably just leave the Yamaha in it as the sound quality so far seems quite good.

I really don't know how it happened but I might have "accidentally ordered" some CL-GD5434 PCBs from JLC.

That's almost lame enough to be a @rubber_jonnie excuse!

Just struck by the similarities with many of your posts when unexpected retro items arrive...as if by magic!
Not that you are the only two on this forum who encounter this strange phenomenon by any means...
:D

If you're wondering if they are genuine, like I was, look at the dates on the label.
