They're a decent machine tbh, I love my A8s. Fairly reasonable prices and a huge software library.

This thread happened so quickly and Ive been busy for a week or so with 'issues', but...

I have a boxed CX80 that I have brought to the first 2 CL shows in case anyone wanted to buy it.

I guess you are sorted now?

Nice. I use one to play Missile Command on the 2600. Even though the game is not track-ball friendly (the original anyway) and I have to put the CX-80 in joystick mode, it's still pretty good.

I'm looking forward to a trip up to Arcade Club in Leeds over Christmas where I can play MC in the flesh :D

I wanted an 800XL BITD. I used to fawn over them in the Silica Shop adverts... but too expensive. A very capable machine and the 400 especially so for 1979.

Definitely the precursor to the Amiga internally, despite being an Atari. (especially on the outside with the ST looking XEs!)

But then again, the DNA of Commodore and Atari are quite intertwined really.

Brought back a lot of good memories having the CX80 in my hands again and playing MC. I think there is a VBXE version of MC available now, supposed to be good, I need to see if I can find it.

OK, and for all you folks who loved a bit of Missile Command there is a port of the original arcade version to the Atari 8 bit machines that have a VBXE board installed.

It uses the original arcade machine graphics/code and seems to be a perfect port of the original cabinet

It plays great with the CX80 and is head and shoulders above the standard Atari port.

That looks great. I can feel the tension

You inspired me to look for the ST version. Looks quite good and plays well according to 'This is Pete'.

Of all the ST games I had, MC was never one of them :) Definitely a classic wherever you find it, even on the 2600.

After posting that I remembered that it's on a menu disk I have - so I probably didn't think much of it at the time. Maybe it wasn't shiny enough
I love the classics these days. I doubt I had enough patience for games like MC, Asteroids, Marble Madness etc BITD
