put a cable tie round the socket @exxos that'll hold it in place and probably work forever and a day.

Doesn't it need to appear to be a bodge wire to satisfy the

@JezC I guess you could melt a bodge wire into the crack and fix it that way?

It would need pvc cerment to glue it. But it would end up on the contacts and bugger it totally then. So I don't think glue is a good idea.
Though I may keep that board as I still need a test rig to test CPUs somehow yet. So I may end up removing a socket anyway.

Sadly I'm going to have to give this batch a miss. Won't bore with the details but our work has put us in notice that there could be layoffs.
So unfortunately I need to be sensible and save my money until work is sorted.
