Be sure to do proper due diligence before selling a CDTV to TerribleFire, he has a history of threatening behaviour towards this classic machine elsewhere on this very forum.....
Re: My CDTV Nightmare
well it cost me 200 quid and i'm gonna put an axe through it... CDTV is my least fav ever Amiga now.

I've owned one for less than 24 hours, it hasn't had time to Gipsy Kiss me off yet! :)

i pressed my TF536 into it and the pins under the board bent over and shorted out.
I had to replace the flexi cables and power button. then the IR control chip died, PSU died and 2 transistors died.

I've noticed this feature of the motherboard,
"Shall we put a standoff post at the front right corner of the motherboard and anchor it to the chassis? the PCB designer has put a large hole through the board specifically to accommodate it..."
- "No, let's just leave it flapping in the wind, it'll save $0.04 per machine and no one will ever open this thing up anyhow..."

As I know CDTV users are impatient and demand immediate gratification I decided to create a prototype of the design before giving the go ahead to JLCPCB.
Here are the results :
As a donor 1.6mm PCB I was forced to use my one and only beloved TF330 as I had nothing else suitable kicking around. Sad to see her go after all the hours of fun we had together but these sacrifices have to be made in the name of progress... CD32 is the past, CDTV is the future!!

Let's mark it up with the correct dimensions taken from Kicad :

Measure once, cut twice..

Sacrifice #2 : An A500 68000 relocator prototype to give us the correct 2.54mm hole placement. Pinned at each end with 1.3mm drill bits for correct alignment.
DSC_0217.resized.JPG
Enough holes drilled to allow an install. Some wonky examples!
8mm hole added at bottom left to allow capacitor clearance.

Pins installed.

DSC_0230.resized.JPG
Installed: Capacitor is not aligned through hole, this is due to the positioning of the cap being way off footprint centre on the motherboard. I will adjust the design to allow more room here as this is probably common..

Protoype tacked onto partially built 536:

Installed

With CPU ( No socket)

Case closed! The CPU does not touch the case lid as anticipated. My measurements were clearly off and/or margins too conservative.

IDE - Angled header. Looks fine...

@go0se Looks very promising. I would like to reserver one relocator and TF536 for CDTV, if you accept reservations in this point?
