Coming from a family of horders I am aware of things I need to watch.
I have to set rules, say that if I've got something then it needs to be on display so (in theory) I can take it off the shelf get the PSU, controller and video cable and use it.
If it's off somewhere stored in the house that is no good.
Thankfully I am not bothered by boxes/packaging, otherwise keeping boxes fresh etc is another storage/handling nightmare.

I nearly finished putting up 2 new shelves in my room on Sunday, so I have somewhere for the Sam to live and i can move some other items about. There are a few more areas I can fit shelves but we are getting to the end.

I've been getting into Thin Clients recently, but they are small and cheap. I find my Pentium MMX PC is so noisy.
My Win98 machine and WinXP machine are stored elsewhere, which does not sit well with me, but they take up too much room.

The ADHD medication shortage is definitely causing my mind to wander and new systems appear on my NEED list. Must stay strong ๐Ÿ˜ƒ What I need is a new hobby to (hyper)focus on ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

@rubber_jonnie PC Engine (Core Grafx 2) was one of my first Japanese imports. Probably paid more on postage than the console

@trixster nice. Do you have any upgrades for it? I see your rocking the double disk drive, ahhhhh the symmetry. Glad keyboard membranes are still available, not sure if mine will break when I open the case...

I have a set or rules in that anything from my collection which works can be set up and used in 10 minutes or less :)

Some of the larger stuff like the BBC B and Apple ][e are permanently set up, as is my TRS-80 model 1 as I have a spot that it fits perfectly next to my workbench.

I ended up finding a faulty PC Engine Duo on eBay from a Japanese seller, who was very friendly and helpful. It just needed a height adjustment on the CD-ROM spindle and some TLC for the video circuit and it runs great.

It's often out and ready to run.

@Higgy I removed the main floppy drive and have put a gotek in there - the aesthetics now look a bit crap but it just makes it far easier to have a play with different games etc. the machine came with an internal 512k ram expansion which is quite lucky, and all the keys still work!

I do have a Trinity expansion but Iโ€™m ashamed to say I havenโ€™t found time to even test that yet! One day!

In theory I'm going to pick up a Sam Coupe tomorrow night. The deal isn't done until it's in my car. Unfortunately I paid approx. market price, perhaps a little below. Most I've spent on anything retro for a long time. And I have to drive 108 miles round trip to pick it up

@alexh I was hoping you got that one. On the last one you missed out on the buyer looked like they might already have a Sam and I saw they did quite a bit of buying/selling.

Once you have got your pennies topped back up and looking for mods it's worth contacting Quazar on SamCoupe.com rather then buying from him via eBay.
I see that Sam has 2 original blue disk drives (v.nice), so i would reckon it also has ram expansion.

I've just ordered all the caps etc to do the PSU. Although my Sam has hardly been used. The 33Ohm 4W resistor has no heat discoloration, but I will change it out anyway.

I am about 50miles south of Bristol, but you cant plan when/where these things turn. My trip was a long day, least the weather was nice although I did hit a pheasant on the way home!

It is quite mad the amount of Sam's that popped up recently. I thought I would be waiting along time then there has been about 4 in as many weeks. And to think that grotty one on eBay went for over ยฃ620!
