Going back to STOS talk though, Im afraid I never really started using the language and I see that you are quite proficient, so can only really talk on a superficial level about any technicalities.

However, one of my long term projects is converting a BlitzBasic game over from the PC to the TT/Falcon/Amiga 68030 assembly.

I can see certain patterns with this mess of code here.

I am in the process of converting the vars/arrays and any other sort of data structures over and you are basically at the mercy of the original compiler creators good or bad design traits and the way that they have dealt with them.

Its mostly good so far, as Mark Sibly had done this before with the Amiga version (twice!) and is a very accomplished BASIC language/Compiler writer. But I wonder how many extra quick fixes and kludges I would have had to untangle if I was using one of the earlier attempts, or indeed converting from STOS with some extra extensions thrown in for good measure.

I would imagine that would be very similar to this case. :lol:
