One question,
What DC-DC converter is gonna be used, ive noticed that GND pin is on the bottom instread of middle? :oops:

How tolerant are the sockets with desoldered 060's?
I have one desoldered from industrial hardware. There are no solder blobs and i have been over where possible with braid.

From what I can see, it's the dual solution, same as the 1260, so you can use any pinout.

Hi Viktor me Steve and Chucky use these DC convertors . they work great and run rather cool, unlike the Linear ones, they are sold in kit form by Tbtorro on Amibay , link below, I know Alen has used cheaper off the shelf ones from Digikey so ask him for a link

Yes, I am using DigiKey part 1589-1464-ND, fantastic device, fits neatly underneath the board and does not heat at all.

Ghetto tip - if your swaping 060s out for testing, cut 3 strips of ~3mm wide card and place between cpu pins at top, middle and bottom positions. This holds the CPU off the socket a bit to make it easier to remove if you don't have correct removal tool.
Note: I don't think the cpu gets hot enough to burn card. But terrible fire warning ;) Fahrenheit 451?!?

I fitted a fan that i had about.
It is quite surprising that although there looks to be loads of space inside the CD32 there never seems to be enough!
I could not fit a heatsink and a fan on top with what I had around. If the fan is directly glued to the CPU then there is no way for the air to get out, so I raised it up on some rubber feet and glued it on. Probably ok for home, but probably would not survive a trip in the postal service!

Next job is to put the CF in my PC and transfer on some specific 060 demos etc.
I know there is RTC clock talk, I wonder about using a flexi cable and then flip the RTC over into the dead space of the CD32 instead of over the CPU. Just an idea.
