Happy birthday
Welcome to another birthday issue of MyAtari magazine. Doesn't time fly when you're having fun... with that in mind, I can't believe the magazine is already three years old :-)

What a year it has been
Since our last birthday a great deal has happened both in front of and behind the scenes. The year 2002 ended on a high for the magazine with not only some bumper issues but also a "web site of the month" award from .net magazine. This public acknowledgement propelled us into the new year with even higher spirits, however, lady luck was not on our side and some bad news was just around the corner. In February 2003, our fight for our mirror domain http://www.myatari.co.uk ended with defeat. To briefly recap, we had registered the domain with the intention of providing myatari.net with a mirror site to spread the load. However, the ISP which hosted the domain unexpectedly closed down taking our domain (and money) with it. However, it would take more than that to curb our enthusiasm!

During the following months, the magazine leapt from strength to strength which has resulted in an explosion in our readership. Proof of this can be seen in our hit counter which is increasing by thousands each week. Your continued support helped us recently reach the milestone of 200,000 hits!

A big "Thank you" to everyone who has supported the magazine in the last year, especially our contributors who continue to write fantastic articles and reviews that keep us all coming back month after month. But that is enough of the back slapping... we want to know what you really think about the magazine. Below is a small poll which we encourage you to complete to help us make the following years' issues even better!

What do you like least about MyAtari?

What would you like MyAtari to cover in future issues?

Alternatively, please e-mail us with your thoughts on the magazine and tell us what you like - or don't like - about it. As for me, in June I announced I would taking a break from MyAtari to concentrate on establishing my new web hosting and design company (which currently hosts myatari.net and ATARItoday). I am pleased to report that my hard work is starting to pay off and I look forward to getting my hands dirty once again on a more regular basis.

But enough of my rambling, it's time to open the champagne and shout Happy birthday once more!

Before anyone asks, "Hey, where can I get a pair of those cool shoes on your cover?" the answer is: you can't, they're the digital creation of Italian reader Paolo De Felice's design company, Protom Multimedia. The brief was to come up with a design to represent MyAtari's achievement with this issue, and as a reader since the early days, Paolo knows we've run a long way. We fully expected to make it here, due to the excellent support of both readers and contributors alike, we thank and salute you all.

Let's have a quick look at what's in store this issue. First of all, Dave Barkin bounces back with a very interesting application of digital cameras. As ever, it involves spending lots of cash on shiny high-tech toys! The nature photographers among you will love this. Next, TXG finally gives his impression of JagFest UK, there's a candid snapshot of the two Matthews and I unloading the car! I'm glad this article arrived now, as the second JagFest UK of the year is almost upon us. JagFest UK Micro is happening on Sunday 30 November at the Birmingham NEC. There is ABBUC's JHV in Germany and JagFest France, both in October, even on the same day, and Euro JagFest is also happening in November.

The other major topic is home networking with broadband. Ethernet interfaces are now well within reach of even 520/1040-class ST models, Edward Baiz shows how easy it is to get that old ST connected. File sharing and speedy internet probably add as much as a hard disk in getting the most from your ST system now. Have a look and give it a go, and support one of the rising talents in Atari hardware development, young Lyndon Amsdon.

Keep your eyes on the MyAtari web site, there will be more articles coming this issue as always. Finally, special thanks to everyone who helped make this anniversary issue our best yet, I'm sure you'll agree. The support has been overwhelming.

Make mine a Dom Perignon, cheers!
