H5 Remake Board & SidecarTridge

Hi, Hope someone can help.

I purchased the bare H5 board and built it up, got it to work eventually. However my wife bought me a Sidecartridge for xmas, but when I plugg it in, the H5 remake ST just goes straight to desktop. I have an original Ateri stfm motherboard and it works fine with that. I have also pluggged in diagnostics card into the H5 board, it works fine.

Anyone have any ideas what the issue could be?

thanks

I have a Sidecartridge and my Dev H5 on my bench. I haven’t set up the sidecart yet but I’ll test it out on the H5 later today if I get time.

I had a chance to plug my SidecarTridge into my Dev H5 and no success. Also found my Gotek screen has stopped working (doubt it's related). I have yet to see if my SidecarTridge actually works on an original ST.

I need to do a bit more investigation.

I had a similar issue with my Sidecartridge on both of my H5 boards. Worked well on most of my other ST's....had some issues with original 520ST's (external PSU).

I love the Sidecartridge overall!

Well I am thinking its the 2.2k pullups on data and address lines on the H5 board are to much for the Sidecartridge to sink current with its level shifters, just a theory. I am no expert, so may change them for a 4.7k and see what happens. when I get chance.

Have you reported the issue to Diago before you start modifying things?

Also has any cartridge worked? If using a pulled port then likely needs contact cleaner.. And have you soldered over the rtc pads else it won't work at all anyway.

I second @exxos as changing the bus resistors on the H5 will be pain and we dont have any issue with the level shifters on all our Phoenix boards BLITTER, MMU, GLUE, SHIFTER, FlashyClock etc.

I will get time to look at it in more depth and I do have some older H5's with different pull-ups that I can test it on.

I just tested very quickly, Sidecartidge firmware 1.0.1 on an H5C with an ACSI2STM and running TOS 2.06, and both floppy emulation and ROM emulation are working OK. It might be worth giving a bit more details about your exact setup in terms of firmware, HW and TOS version so we can try to reproduce the issue.

I am useing Tos 1.04 with jumper setting internal glue decodeing, the Sidecartridge is flashed with the latest release from the Sidecartridge website. The dispaly is Mono as i have no 15khz monitors. Its setup as standard ST apart from the memory which is a 4mb simm in the H5 board, My diagnostic cart workks fine in the H5 board. The Sidecartridge works fine in a standard Atari ST. I have worked through the FAQ on the sidecartridge website including setting READ_BUS_TICKS parameter in a CONFIG.TXT, from 0-20. I am not knowledgble on hardware, but from what I can tell My H5 is set to standard ST.
