Loved Duke 3D!

That brings back some memories... :)

Yeah I watched this a few days ago, really awesome! I remember having a Pentium 75Mhz computer, my entire desktop was Duke Nukem themed with Duke sound effects :) I enjoyed Duke much more than Doom/Quake back in those days, I much preferred how the character felt real, where in doom/quake I was just shooting enemies for no reason.

It's a shame Duke Nukem Forever didn't get finished in 2000, the hype around it was insane. I was in secondary school at the time and my mates were all looking forward to it. The version we got in 2011 from gearbox software was very average... and kinda cringe in places.

I remember this causing one of my friends countless upgrades to his PC at the time to try and get it playing more smoothly (especially with a serial connection between PCs) - I think it caused him to get a better graphics card, sound card and then better serial card to get 16550 UARTs (instead of the 8250 compatible ones)...I think he would have been better buying a whole new PC in hindsight!

Did the original come out, then there was the Atomic Edition and the Plutonium Pack versions/add-ons soon after?

I was always hopeless at it anyway, so being able to blame sub-par h/w was always handy ;)

I loved Duke Nukem 3D, it was so much more fun and irreverent than Doom. I'm working my way through the early Dukes on my Evercade at the moment and no doubt I will get back to DN3D at some point :)
