I have been drafting some rules are many reasons about limiting AI content on the forum...

These are the current draft rules.. If anyone has any thoughts then speak now.....


Use of AI-Generated Content

This forum exists to share human knowledge, experience, and discussion.
Posts should be written by members themselves, based on their own understanding.

AI-generated content is not permitted as primary forum content.

• Permitted use of AI
  AI tools may be used for:
  • Translation
  • Spell-checking and grammar correction
  • Minor rewording for clarity, where the ideas and technical content are entirely your own
  In these cases, no disclosure is required.

• AI as a reference
  AI may be used privately as a reference tool (similar to a search engine or manual).
  
  However:
  • AI-generated text must not be pasted or reposted verbatim
  • AI must not be used to answer questions on your behalf
  If AI-generated material is quoted or referenced directly, it must be clearly marked as AI-generated.

• Prohibited use of AI
  The following are not allowed:
  • Posting AI-generated answers as your own
  • AI-written technical explanations, tutorials, or advice
  • AI-generated opinions, arguments, or forum replies
  • Bulk or repetitive AI-generated content
  Lightly edited AI output is still considered AI-generated content.

• Why this rule exists
  AI content often:
  • Contains subtle errors or fabricated information
  • Reduces technical discussion quality
  • Encourages AI content feeding other AI systems
  To preserve long-term value and signal-to-noise ratio, this forum prioritises human expertise over machine-generated text.

• Moderation
  Moderators may:
  • Remove AI-generated posts
  • Ask members to rewrite content in their own words
  • Restrict posting if misuse continues
  This is about maintaining discussion quality, not punishment.

I think that's a really good idea.

I would even go as far as on this point replacing with:

Minor rewording for clarity, where the ideas and technical content are entirely your own however, use of AI must be clearly acknowledged for the re-wording

Otherwise, I would say this is a grey area which can be severely exploited and the interpretation severely misused to fit the case of heavy AI usage.

Should AI generated 16-colour Atari resolution artwork and 8-bit audio be allowed?

Many talented Atari ST programmers have struggled to find free IP gfx/music to use with their programs and I think that AI generated tile-sets / and graphics can be very good at unblocking talented people.

Arguably the training data for the AI was probably stolen and the GFX/Audio could be considered derivative work.

Also it could potentially be seen as putting Atari ST pixel artists "out of a job" but I think demand outstrips supply here.
